The development of the first grid-free zoos in the world began in 1896 and was registered in the same year for a patent.
Carl Hagenbeck, the fishmonger's son and founder of the pet trade company Gottfried Clas Carl Hagenbeck, took over in
1896 the animal trade from his father. He bought and sold exotic animals from around the world and thus expanded
the business to the largest in the world. In 1907, the zoo, which was based on Carl Hagenbeck's ideas have been built,
    opened in Hamburg Stellingen (Germany).
The sons of Henry Lawrence now led the life work of her father away together. His idea of the appropriate to the species
position of exotic animals was sensational and was copied by many zoological gardens.

The enclosures without grid, which lie by deep water ditches separately from the visitors, make a nearly very close
observation possible. Feeding different animals is willingly seen here and the animals happy to make itself about an extra a delicacy.
The zoo in Stellingen was destroyed during the Second World War by an air attack in just 90 minutes almost completely.
With incredible use of the Hagenbeck family, he was bigger and better than ever rebuilt. Hagenbecks Zoo is also today still in
family estate and by Joachim F. Weinlig Hagenbeck and Dr. Stephan herring Hagenbeck is led.

    Die Thai-Sala
By red-varnished temple gates one reaches about a bridge the Japanese island garden which emits with Japanese maple trees
and ginkgos, real Japanese bronze and Buddha's statues decorated, Asian atmosphere.
The Thai-Sala, a present of the enterpriser of married couple Krohn to the hamburgers and Thais in Hamburg, were initiated
22nd of August, 2002 by your royal Highness princess Chaha Marki Sirindhorn. A Sala is an important element of the
Thai construction tradition. One finds them not only in gardens and courts, but even in the street edge. They serve as an
active protection and solar protection and as a place of the rest and meeting between friends and strangers.
The pavilion should fulfil this purpose also here in Hagenbecks animal park. A protection before the Hamburg weather,
place of the rest and meeting place for old and new friends.

    Sorry for my bad English!
