    The Old-Urban Main Guard, also as a new main guard and Schinkelwache called, was built in 1830-1832 in the eastern side of the theatre square by Joseph Thürmer according to draughts of the Berlin architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel.
    The anew established, strictly classicistic sandstone construction with elements of Greek temple architecture is known primarily under the name of his builder as a Schinkelwache. The straight building established in the classicistic architectural style, does not correspond to the architectural style of the other buildings anzufindenden on the theatre square which come from the playful Renaissance or cash rock time. It is the only Schinkelbau of Dresden. The middle section educated as Antentempel is flanked by lower dreiachsigen tracts. The sculpture jewellery shows the Saxonia of Jospeh Hermann and Mars of Franz Pettrich. Hence, the Schinkelwache resembles a Greek temple.

    By the bomb attack in 1945 the building completely burnt out. In 1955/56 the reconstruction occurred and one used afterwards the building for administrative purposes. In 1985 it was furnished the Schinkelwache as a central box office. Today a comfortable café is in the Schinkelwache except the box office also.

    Die Altstädter Wache, auch als Neue Hauptwache und Schinkelwache bezeichnet, wurde 1830-1832 an der Ostseite des Theaterplatzes von Joseph Thürmer nach Entwürfen des Berliner Architekten Karl Friedrich Schinkel erbaut.
    Der neu errichtete, streng klassizistische Sandsteinbau mit Elementen griechischer Tempelarchitektur ist hauptsächlich unter dem Namen seines Erbauers als Schinkelwache bekannt. Das im klassizistischen Baustil errichtete, geradlinige Bauwerk, entspricht nicht dem Baustil der anderen, auf dem Theaterplatz anzufindenden Gebäude, welche aus der verspielten Renaissance- oder Barrockzeit stammen.Es ist der einzige Schinkelbau Dresdens. Der als Antentempel gebildete Mittelteil wird von niedrigeren dreiachsigen Trakten flankiert. Der Skulpturenschmuck zeigt die Saxonia von Jospeh Hermann und den Mars von Franz Pettrich. Die Schinkelwache ähnelt daher einem griechischen Tempel.

    Durch den Bombenangriff im Jahr 1945 brannte das Bauwerk völlig aus. 1955/56 erfolgte der Wiederaufbau und man nutzte danach das Gebäude für Verwaltungszwecke. 1985 wurde die Schinkelwache als zentrale Theaterkasse eingerichtet. Heute befindet sich in der Schinkelwache außer der Theaterkasse auch ein gemütliches Café.

Ja, so ein plätscherndes Wasser im Hintergrund finde ich auch sehr gemütlich! Ich meine, aus Café-Sicht, von hier aus ist's ja sogar im Vordergrund;-)

PS: Ich bemerke sehr wohl, dass Deine HDRs auch an trüben Tagen was her machen! :D
