The second Munich coronation carriage, made for king Max I Joseph; Munich, in 1818
A long time were in Munich state coaches, carriages and sledges the only means of transportation. You can admire the nicest models in the Marstallmuseum (castle Nymph's castle / south wing). The Marstallmuseum in the castle Nymph's castle in Munich is accommodated in the former health resort-princely court stables in the south part of the castle. In four rooms decorated state coaches, carriages, splendour sledges, Prunkpferdewägen, saddle stuff and horse dishes from Bavaria at the moment of the electors and kings are issued there admirably.
Many exhibition pieces are not only craft whole pieces of art in which famous wood carvers, sculptors, painters and Vergolder have co-operated, but, in addition, also witnesses more importantly of historical events. Showpieces are the splendour carriage of the elector Carl Albrecht whom he drove on the occasion of his coronation to emperor Karl VII in 1742, the coronation carriage of king Maximilian I Joseph and the Prunkwägen and sledges king Ludwig II.
Zweiter Münchner Krönungswagen, angefertigt für König Max I. Joseph; München, 1818
Yes, it is! Both have the same royal style! Both are to serve the rich and famous! Both are priceless! Both are hard to find! Both are uniques. Both have the same etiquette: "Don´t touch this or you´´ll want more than you can afford!" Both need "horses"! Both are sharing the same care for the detail and comfort. Both were made using the same technology-materials: expensive leather, fine wood, wrought iron (eventually gold), loose fabrics. Both will always amaze anybody!
