The Ludwig Church is the first large sacral works of the architect Friedrich von Gärtner, the Ludwig I thus commissioned,
was built during a long construction period from 1829 to 1844, in the North-South trending Ludwigstrasse.
The architectural style of the Parish and University Church belongs to the Romantic Classicism. In 1958 the church was
extensively renovated in order to fix the damages of war.
With its two towers and the wings of the church is a focal point in the northern Ludwigstraße. In the conception of this
road, which is arranged by history like a journey, the church reminds by program of the epoch of the Middle Ages.
It forms with diagonally opposite lying university the unit. Thus it is to become clear that for the holistic education of
humans the connection of faith and knowledge is substantial.
