    Heidelberg is one of the best known and nicest university towns of Germany. For a short visit particularly the old assembly hall on the
    university place is to be recommended. This space has something palatial and is something special! An ancient smell of the science lies in the air.

    The old university accommodates the headmaster's office and as well as the university museum furnished in 1996. It documents the history
    of the oldest university in Germany, which had been created 1386 of cure prince Ruprecht I. and 1803 had been reorganized by
    Grand Duke Carl Friedrich of bathing.

    The inside of the assembly hall - as it is today still visible - was been transformed from 1886, in the style of neo-Renaissance, on the
    occasion of the anniversary of the University, and is today a historical representation Hall for important lectures, concerts and award ceremonies.
    In the center of the front wall is a Büste of the Grand Duke Friedrich of bathing. To the left of the Büste is a Portrait of cure prince Ruprecht I.,
    the founder of the University of Heidelberg. On the right of the Büste one sees a Portrait of the Mark count Karl Friedrich of Baden.
    This promoted the University, particularly after the Heidelberg belonged to Baden from the beginning of the 19th century. After these two
    personalities, the University was finally named also: Ruprecht-Karls-Universität (or Ruperto Carola in Latin).

    ¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨

    Heidelberg ist eine der bekanntesten und schönsten Universitätsstädte Deutschlands. Für einen kurzen Besuch ist besonders die alte Aula
    am Universitätspatz zu empfehlen. Dieser Raum hat etwas Hochherrschaftliches und ist etwas Besonderes! Es liegt ein jahrhundertealten
    Geruch der Wissenschaft in der Luft.

    Die Alte Universität beherbergt das Rektorat und sowie das 1996 eingerichtete Universitätsmuseum. Es dokumentiert die Geschichte der ältesten
    Universität in Deutschland, die 1386 von Kurfürst Ruprecht I. gegründet und 1803 von Großherzog Carl Friedrich von Baden reorganisiert worden war.

    Das Innere der Aula – wie es heute noch sichtbar ist – war anlässlich des Universitätsjubiläums von 1886, im Stil der Neorenaissance, umgestaltet
    worden, und ist heute historischer Repräsentationssaal für wichtige Vorlesungen, Konzerte und Preisverleihungen. In der Mitte der Stirnwand befindet
    sich eine Büste des Großherzogs Friedrich von Baden. Links von der Büste befindet sich ein Portrait von Kurfürst Ruprecht I., dem Begründer der
    Universität Heidelberg. Rechts der Büste sieht man ein Portrait des Markgrafen Karl Friedrich von Baden. Dieser förderte die Universität ganz besonders,
    nach dem Heidelberg ab dem Beginn des 19. Jahrhunderts zu Baden gehörte. Nach diesen beiden Persönlichkeiten wurde die Universität Heidelberg
    schließlich auch benannt: Ruprecht-Karls-Universität (oder lateinisch Ruperto-Carola).
