    The Cathedral of St. Barbara is a famous landmark in Kutna Hora and was built in the style of late (Vladislav) Gothic.
    Kutná Hora is a provincial town in the region middle Bohemians. She lies about 70 km to the east of Prague The construction
    of the cathedral refers on the most unusual Gothic constructions of his kind in Central Europe. Like other monuments in
    the city centre, the church stands under the protection of UNESCO.

    Start of construction work of the cathedral was in 1388, by Jan Parléř which was also involved in the planning.
    The cathedral grew very fast and for its building used one the sandstone from the obvious quarries. Due to the Hussite Wars
    and the lack of funding, the construction of the church was often interrupted. Until 1547, little changed on the building, so that
    it always rained inside. Because it lacked Kutná Hora on money, the miners decided that they finish the construction prematurely.
    A mid ship was vaulted. A mid ship was vaulted. In the original project should be at least twice as long cathedral.

    In 1626, the Cathedral of the Jesuits was acquired and rebuilt in the Baroque style. The Jesuits established their headquarters
    near the Cathedral of St. Barbara, which the College was connected through an above-ground passage with the Cathedral.
    Along the facade, you can see the statue of thirteen saints (among others, the patron saint of miners).
    The completion of construction was carried out at the beginning of the 20th century.

    Inside of the cathedral, one experiences by the subdued colour light of the Vitragen, a pleasant atmosphere and perfect acoustics.
    The cathedral accommodates valuable art treasures from different style epochs, under it an altar of the master of the Trinity altar
    who was created about 1480, numerous statues and wall paintings as well as a Gothic choir stalls, preserved in the original.

    Der Dom der heiligen Barbara ist ein berühmtes Wahrzeichen Kutna Hora und wurde im Stil der späten (Vladislav) Gothic gebaut.
    Kutná Hora ist eine Kleinstadt in der Region Mittelböhmen. Sie liegt etwa 70 km östlich von Prag. Der Bau des Dom bezieht sich
    auf den ungewöhnlichsten gotischen Bauten seiner Art in Mitteleuropa. Wie andere Denkmäler in der Innenstadt, steht die Kirche
    unter dem Schutz der UNESCO.

    Baubeginn des Dom war 1388, durch Jan Parléř, der auch an der Planung beteiligt war. Der Dom wuchs sehr schnell und für
    seinen Bau benutzte man den Sandstein aus den naheliegenden Steinbrüchen. Auf Grund der Hussitenkriege und der Mangel an
    Finanzierung, wurde der Bau der Kirche oft unterbrochen. Bis zum Jahre 1547 veränderte sich wenig an dem Bau, so dass es immer
    wieder hinein regnete. Da es Kutna Hora an Geld mangelte, entschieden sich die Berghauer, dass sie den Bau vorzeitig beenden.
    Ein mittleres Schiff wurde eingewölbt. In dem ursprünglichen Projekt sollte der Dom mindestens doppelt so lang werden.

    Im Jahr 1626 wurde die Kathedrale von den Jesuiten übernommen und im Stil des Barock umgebaut. Die Jesuiten errichteten ihren
    Sitz in der Nähe der Kathedrale von St. Barbara, wodurch die Hochschule durch eine oberirdischen Passage mit dem Dom verbunden
    wurde. Entlang der Fassade kann man die Statue von dreizehn Heiligen bewundern (unter anderem die Schutzpatronin der Bergleute).
    Der Abschluss der Bauarbeiten erfolgte Anfang des XX Jahrhunderts.

    Im Inneren des Dom, erlebt man durch das gedämpfte Farblicht der Vitragen, eine angenehme Atmosphäre und vollkommene Akustik.
    Der Dom beherbergt wertvolle Kunstschätze aus verschiedenen Stilepochen, darunter einen Altar des Meisters des Dreifaltigkeitsaltars,
    der um 1480 geschaffen wurde, zahlreiche Statuen und Wandgemälde sowie ein im Original erhaltenes gotisches Chorgestühl.
