When Queen Louise on 19 July 1810 at Castle Hohenzieritz in Mecklenburg-Strelitz died far too young at the age of 34 years,
was a wave of sympathy across Germany and Europe. A whole century was governed Prussia and then the German empire
by its husband and its two oldest sons, Friedrich Wilhelm III. (1797-1840), Friedrich Wilhelm IV. (1840-1858)
    and emperor Wilhelm I. (1858/1871 1888).

After seventeen years of marriage, is moving its final resting place of Queen Luise in a mausoleum with a portico of four
Doric columns of the Brandenburg granite, a few minutes behind the left wing of the Charlottenburg Palace. The transfer
of their Sarges from lock Hohenzieritz to Berlin in six days was a national event, and, where the horses were changed,
are today still monuments and motives for memory.
The architect Heinrich Gentz was commissioned to build a mausoleum in the Park of Charlottenburg Palace immediately.
Karl Friedrich Schinkel was involved in the works, also the king himself took interest in the draughts. For the construction
the materials could be used, which were no longer needed in other places, such as pillars or Oranienburg Palace from
the steps from the park of Sanssouci. Thus it was possible to make the building ready in about five months.
On 23 December 1810 found the Queen there, their final resting place. The sculptor Christian Daniel Rauch created
a sculpture which is regarded as a masterpiece of the Berlin sculptor school for their sarcophagus. In the vault, including
the four Tin coffins with the bones of the dead store. The heart of Friedrich Wilhelm IV. (1795-1861) is sunk into the
floor of the crypt. The place developed rapidly to a cult place for the admiration of the deceased queen.

The subsequent onset of Luis cult is unprecedented in German history. The popularity of Luise justifies itself not only in
the tragically early death of a tenfold mother, but also in their nature stressness and easiness, their public-friendliness
and their self-sacrificing patriotism in of Prussia heaviest times, because it against-placed itself the Eroberungsgelüsten
Napoleon courageously and held representatively of their hesitant husband the conversations with Napoleon.

    Sorry for my bad English!
