The old town-dwellers apostle's clock is one of the most valuable and best known Prague places of interest. She is in the Gothic tower of the old town-dweller of city hall on the Old Town place. The apostle's clock is the masterpiece of the Czech science and technology of the Gothic time and at the same time also a splendid artistic monument.
The astronomical clock has three main parts. The mostly interesting part is the astronomical one which shows the positions of the heavenly bodies. Under it is a calendar circle which in the 19th century Josef Mánes with paintings has decorated. Round the astronomical part a movable move is also twelve apostles who appear every hour about the astronomical part.
The astronomical clock of Prague was third of her kind. The first was produced in 1344 in Padua (Italy).
