Am Lechfall in Fuessen

The Lechfall is an about seven metre high penstock flooded in whole width by the river Lech in the southern outskirts of feet.
The gulch of the Lechs originated at the end of the Würmeiszeit about 12.000 years ago when the melt water of the Lechgletschers formed a big lake which applied up to the today's Pfronten. As a drain of this lake overthrew of the Lech about 100 m deep about a rock bolt in the Füssener at that time lake and eroded, besides, the narrow gorge.
About the waterfall leads the king's Max's footbridge which was built in 1895, and in a niche about the gorge there is a bust of the king Maximilian.

Der Lechfall ist ein etwa sieben Meter hohes, in ganzer Breite überströmtes Stauwehr am Fluss Lech am südlichen Stadtrand von Füssen.
Die Schlucht des Lechs entstand am Ende der Würmeiszeit vor etwa 12.000 Jahren, als die Schmelzwasser des Lechgletschers einen großen See bildeten, der sich bis zum heutigen Pfronten erstreckte. Als Abfluss dieses Sees stürzte der Lech etwa 100 m tief über einen Felsriegel in den damaligen Füssener See und erodierte dabei die enge Felsschlucht.
Über den Wasserfall führt der König-Max-Steg, der im Jahr 1895 erbaut wurde, und in einer Nische über der Klamm befindet sich eine Büste des Königs Maximilian.
