    By order of Herzog Philipp of Wurttemberg the palace was built in the style of the Italian neo-Renaissance in the middle of
    the 19th century. Because the Duke but soon left his residence, began to rebuild the Palace into a hotel. In 1873, the
    ceremonial opening of the hotel took place in the presence of Emperor Franz Joseph and his wife.

    The salient building far away visibly towers above the Ringstraße, which leads approximately around the historical center
    of Vienna. The building, originally under the name palace Württemberg delighted, is a 5-storey construction block with
    sechsachsigem weakly stepping out Mittelrisalit. In the gable is a figure group, which represents a woman shape on chariots,
    pulled from deer and lion (the Württembergian coat of arms animals). In the third and fourth projectile large stone balconies
    lie in the Mittelrisalit. The porch of the main entrance is disguised with white Carrara marble.

    Im Auftrag des Herzogs Philipp von Württemberg wurde das Palais im Stile der italienischen Neo-Renaissance in der Mitte
    des 19. Jahrhunderts erbaut. Da der Herzog seinen Wohnsitz jedoch schon bald wieder verließ, begann man das Palais
    zu einem Hotel umzubauen. Im Jahre 1873 fand im Beisein des Kaisers Franz-Joseph und seiner Gemahlin die feierliche
    Eröffnung des Hotels statt.

    Weithin sichtbar überragt das markante Gebäude die Ringstraße, die rund um das historische Zentrum Wiens führt.
    Das Gebäude, ursprünglich unter dem Namen Palais Württemberg erbaut, ist ein fünfgeschoßiger Baublock mit sechsachsigem
    schwach hervortretendem Mittelrisalit. Im Giebel befindet sich eine Figurengruppe, die eine Frauengestalt auf Triumphwagen,
    von Hirschen und Löwen (den württembergischen Wappentieren) gezogen, darstellt. Im dritten und vierten Geschoss liegen im
    Mittelrisalit große Steinbalkone. Der Vorbau des Haupteinganges ist mit weißem Carraramarmor verkleidet.

I really like this one, it is such a grand space yet so empty of life. I get a very stiff feeling of uncomfortable cushions and awkward hotel foyers from this photo where everything is so formal that you don't want to touch anything or even sit down. A very interesting place and a lovely photograph!

Ohne die Leuchter und die Decke könnte es ebensogut eine schöne Aussenfassade sein, ein vollkommen durchgestyltes Gebäude, in dem man sehr gern wohnen würde, wenn man es bezahlen kann. Kann mir schlecht Harz4 Gäste hier vorstellen.
